On 9 February 2026, an awards ceremony recognizing artists who have made a significant contribution to the development of theatre in the Turkic world was held in Istanbul. The event was organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) in cooperation with the Anadolu newspaper. Theatre professionals from TÜRKSOY member countries were honored for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
Representing Turkmenistan, stage master of the Main State Academic Drama Theatre named after the Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi and Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Batyr Charyyev received the award in the category “Best Actor.”
The commemorative award was presented to him by Seyit Yusuf, Assistant to the Secretary General of TÜRKSOY.
In his speech, Batyr Charyyev spoke about the achievements of Turkmen theatre, its creative potential, and the strong state support provided to the arts. He also emphasized that the opportunities created by Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar play an important role in promoting Turkmen culture on the international stage. Charyyev concluded his remarks with a poem dedicated to the Motherland, which was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
This ceremony highlights the strengthening of cultural cooperation among Turkic states, the growing attention to the development of theatre arts, and the international recognition of creative professionals across the region.
