On March 9, the inauguration ceremonies of the newly elected President of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, were held at the Assembly of the Republic building in Lisbon.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Portuguese Republic (with residence in Paris) M. Charyev attended the festive events.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the meeting hall of the Assembly of the Republic, with the participation of Portugal’s top leadership, government members, members of parliament, as well as high-ranking foreign delegations.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan attended an official reception at the Ajuda National Palace, where he had the opportunity to meet with the new Head of State and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
During a brief conversation, Ambassador M. Charyev, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulated António José Seguro on his victory in the presidential elections and conveyed best wishes on his assumption of the high state office.
In turn, the President of Portugal expressed gratitude for the words of support and noted his interest in visiting Turkmenistan in the future.
