Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed issues regarding the activation of direct contacts between private sector representatives and the creation of favorable conditions for the implementation of joint initiatives. This matter was reviewed during a meeting held on Sunday between Mergen Gurdov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, and Ravshanbek Alimov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan.
According to the “Dunyo” news agency, during the talks, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects for advancing trade and economic cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
Special attention was paid to a complex of bilateral events involving entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan planned for 2026. The report notes that there are plans to organize the fifth meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek Business Council and hold joint business forums this year.
The interlocutors also discussed ensuring the participation of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) representatives in exhibitions and forums held within the two countries. It was noted that the development of exhibition and fair activities would facilitate the establishment of direct partnerships and increase the volume of mutual trade.
