A unified and coordinated strategy is needed for the effective development of the Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian Transport Route, according to Sergey Revzin, chief executive of UK-based AGB Energy. He made the statement at the 2nd Oil Trading and Transport Forum “Caspian and Central Asia” in Baku, Report reported Friday.
Countries participating in the route should base their cooperation on coordination and common approaches, Revzin said. The introduction of harmonized rules and standards would improve predictability and efficiency in transport and logistics operations.
Revzin also suggested considering fixed freight rates for a single freight year, which he said could contribute to greater stability and transparency in transportation along the corridor.
The Middle Corridor, or Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, connects Europe and Asia, passing through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The route is used for container shipments via rail and maritime transport.
