The Akhal-Teke horses, the pride of our people’s hearts, are a national treasure that has come down to us through the centuries. Our wise ancestors, following the principle “The horse is a fulfilled dream,” linked their aspirations and great goals with our horses, which are swifter than the wind. In the modern era, our horses are not only the main adornment of our solemn celebrations but also symbolize the rapid pace of our country’s development. This is because, through the peerless efforts of our Hero Arkadag and our esteemed President, the Turkmen art of horse breeding is being raised to new heights.
During the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, the material and technical base of the horse-breeding industry is being systematically modernized. In our country, the noble work of master trainers (seýis) and horse breeders is held in high esteem. They play a vital role in preserving the purity of the horses’ bloodlines and passing this heritage from generation to generation.
International-level scientific research, selection work, and the introduction of new technologies ensure that Turkmen horse breeding occupies a leading position in the world. The initiatives of our National Leader and the Head of State in this field provide a great impetus for the worldwide celebration of national equestrian sports and traditional equestrian games.
The fame and glory of the Turkmen horse continue to amaze the world today. In this regard, the inclusion of the “Akhal-Teke horse-breeding art and traditions of horse decoration” into the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity demonstrates the rising prestige of the Akhal-Teke horses—considered a value to both national and global culture—and their widespread support by the international community.
