The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has announced that, in order to strengthen the protection of the national currency and ensure that banknotes meet modern standards, the updated 100‑manat banknote will be put into circulation on July 15, 2026. The information was reported by AZƏRTAC — the Azerbaijan State News Agency.
In global practice, the regular renewal of banknotes is considered an important step in combating counterfeiting, introducing new technologies, and improving user convenience. Following this trend, Azerbaijan has already issued updated 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50‑manat banknotes in recent years.
According to the Central Bank, the design and security system of the new 100‑manat banknote have been redesigned within the existing concept using the latest nano‑ and micro‑technologies. The theme of the banknote remains unchanged — “Economy and Development.”
The updated banknote features the signature of the Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Taleh Tahir oglu Kazimov, located in the upper left corner of the front side.
The Central Bank notes that the introduction of the updated banknotes aims to increase the reliability of the national currency and significantly reduce the risk of counterfeiting.
