From April 16 to 19, 2026, Turkmen athletes successfully performed at the “Constantine Alexandru and Ioan Popovich” International Tournament for Athletes Under 17 in Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling in Bucharest, Romania. This was reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania.
Among the athletes from different countries participating in the tournament, the representatives of the national team of Turkmenistan performed at a high level and won a total of 13 medals. In addition, they took first place among 14 countries in the team competition in freestyle wrestling, contributing to the achievements of our country in sports. In total, they won 4 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
These achievements are a clear testimony to the dedication, skill of Turkmen athletes and the continuous development of the sports system in our country.
Also, the young people who participated in the tournament expressed their sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedoм and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedoм for their great attention to promoting a healthy lifestyle, high-level sports, as well as for the great opportunities they provide to participate in international sports events.
