Turkmen mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete Dowletjan Yagshymyradov has been appointed Goodwill Ambassador of the UN Friendship Games.
The announcement of his appointment was made during a ceremonial event held at the United Nations General Assembly building. The certificate confirming his new role was presented by Wepa Hajyyev, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations.
Dowletjan Yagshymyradov is a well-known MMA fighter with 26 victories in his professional career. Russian MMA fighter Alexander Volkov was also appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador of the Friendship Games.
The UN Friendship Games aim to promote international friendship, cooperation and peace through sport. The annual event brings together athletes, diplomats and representatives of various organizations from around the world.
