Cali, Colombia — 2026. At the World Junior Weightlifting Championships held in Cali, Colombia, Turkmenistan’s young athletes delivered confident and successful performances, winning medals and reaffirming the strong tradition of the national weightlifting school.
In the men’s competition, Atabek Azamatov competed in the 60 kg weight category, lifting 111 kg in the snatch and 134 kg in the clean & jerk, for a total of 245 kg, earning second place.
In the women’s competition, Ogulshat Amanova competed in the 53 kg category, lifting 86 kg in the snatch and 105 kg in the clean & jerk, for a total of 191 kg, securing the gold medal.
In the same category, Shabnam Kerimbaeva lifted 83 kg in the snatch and 105 kg in the clean & jerk, with a total of 188 kg, winning the bronze medal among world‑class junior athletes.
The performances of Turkmen athletes were highly praised by international experts, confirming the steady progress of Turkmenistan in preparing young weightlifters. The championship was held with athletes from dozens of countries, marked by strong competition and sporting spirit.
