Dyson has introduced a new toothbrush that can automatically detect areas of teeth that have not been properly cleaned, direct a water stream to those spots and send all data to a smartphone.
The built-in camera analyses 28 frames per second and identifies gaps between teeth that require additional cleaning. In less than 0.1 seconds, the system directs an oral rinsing liquid stream to the detected areas.
The technology was trained using 470,000 images of teeth, while the device’s software contains nearly 16 million lines of code. The new toothbrush costs $499, and sales began on 1 September.
