On October 3, 2026, a ceremonial event dedicated to German Unity Day was held at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradow, representatives of Germany’s diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan, heads of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in the country, as well as representatives of state institutions, public organizations, and business circles.

During the speeches, the historical significance of German Unity Day was emphasized. The holiday commemorates the reunification of East and West Germany on October 3, 1990. Holding official events in Turkmenistan to mark this occasion has become a well-established tradition. For instance, in 2024, the Embassy of Germany in Ashgabat also hosted a reception in honor of the date.
During the event, participants exchanged views on the current state of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other spheres. Particular attention was given to opportunities for further developing bilateral relations.
It was also noted that during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries and Germany held in Berlin in February 2026, the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany was highlighted, including collaboration in trade and investment, transport, energy, education, and other areas.
On the same day, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent congratulatory messages to German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the people of Germany on the occasion of German Unity Day. In his message, the head of state emphasized that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany is based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and peaceful partnership.
At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed their wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued progress for the people of Germany.
