Boris Borovik – New Head Coach of Turkmenistan’s Women’s Football Team

27.05.2025

Borovik will lead the national team in preparation for the qualification tournament of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. According to the draw results, Turkmenistan’s female footballers will compete in Group “C” alongside Myanmar, Bahrain, and Bangladesh. All matches in the group stage will be held in a centralized format in Myanmar.

The qualification tournament is scheduled to take place from June 23 to July 5 this year. Winners of the qualifying groups will advance to the final stage of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, which will be held in Australia from March 1 to March 26.

Borovik replaces Kamil Mingazov, who had been leading the national team since 2019. Under Mingazov’s leadership, Turkmenistan’s women’s football team participated in the first-ever CAFA-2022 Women’s Championship and, in August 2022, made its debut in the official FIFA rankings.
